Projects
Dansverkstæðið homeground projects are diverse and varied. Dansverkstæðið provides professional development and support for artists through workshops and courses of various kinds. The performance series The Dance Year at Dansverkstæðið, along with a lively children's and family program, contribute to increased visibility of dance and public access to the art of dance. Many projects are part of strengthening the infrastructure of dance, and Dansverkstæðið collaborates with other art forms, cultural institutions, schools and festivals.
Residencies
Guest artists at Dansverkstæðið enjoy working facilities and professional support for their research and creative work. In this way, Dansverkstæðið supports the original creation of dance artists who live and work in Iceland and strengthens the core that builds the dance community in this country.

Residency - dance for youth
Every year, a dance artist or group is selected to work on a dance piece for children. The residency includes a project grant. The project is in collaboration with ASSITEJ, which provides artistic advice during the creative process. The work created in the workshop is shown at the ASSITEJ performing arts festival, Unga.

Children and families
Dansverkstæðið organizes programs for children and families. The goal is to increase children and families' access to dance-related events and to support and provide artists with a platform and opportunity to develop projects for children and youth.

Choreographic Happy Hour
A platform for dance artists to share ideas and works in progress on stage. After the performance, there is a space for discussion and feedback. First and foremost, this is an opportunity to celebrate creativity and dance. Choreographic Happy Hour is usually held once a semester.

Co-operation with RDF
Dansverkstæðið and Reykjavik Dance Festival are working together on the project Danshúsið, with the goal of strengthening and sharing infrastructure, knowledge and resources in the most efficient way possible so that the excellent professional dance scene in Iceland can be even better supported.

Dansdagar
Dansdagar (Dance Days) is a collaborative project between Dansverkstæðið and the Icelandic Dance Company. The goal is to offer exciting courses and gatherings of dance professionals.
24/7
24/7 is a co-creation workshop for dance artists and artists in other disciplines. In 24/7, pairs are formed: a choreographer/dancer and an artist from another art form. Each pair gets one week to get to know each other, test ideas and create something from scratch. The goal of the project is to create new connections and open up new avenues for collaboration and creativity.
Stúdíó 3
Artists with projects that do not require traditional rehearsal spaces can apply for the Studio 3 project. The artist will then receive facilities in Dansverkstæðið's smallest studio, Studio 3, and a professional discussion. The projects can be of various types, but an engagement with the dance community is an advantage.

Dansnet Ísland
The goal of Dansnet Iceland is to connect artists, cultural institutions and communities with exhibitions and courses throughout the country and create new opportunities for participation, employment and cultural development. The project is under development.
Iceland Dance Showcase
Dansverkstæðið is a partner of the Performing Arts Centre Iceland, Reykjavík Dance Festival, Iceland Dance Company and Íslandsstofa in this project, which aims to enhance the international visibility and distribution of Icelandic dance works. The event will take place within the framework of the Reykjavík Dance Festival 11–15 November 2026.
