Summer residency
Dansverkstæðið offers an annual studio residency in July for artists aged 20 - 35 years. The goal of the residency is to provide two applicants with time, space and some funding to work on a new project. The project can be in the form of research, development or creation of a new work. You can apply as an individual or a group. At the end of the residency period, the studio will be opened to the public to present the artistic results. Professional advice and support both during and after the residency will be offered by internal staff of Dansverkstæðið.
Each individual/group receives:
-
Up to 200 hours in a studio and desk facilities at Dansverkstæðið.
-
A grant that can be used for material costs and/or fees.
-
Advice from Dansverkstæðið staff and other experts/artists.
-
Photography and recording from the event when the results are presented.

Marta Ákadóttir worked on her new creation Water Pistol War (Vatnsbyssustríð) with dancers and co-workers Bertine Bertelsen Fadness and Leevi Mettinen. Together they dived into children's games, the internet, water pistols and conflict.
Lísandra Týra Jónsdóttir continued her solo project Op. 5: The Body Living. Through transformative repetitive gestures, abstracted postures, and evolving states of embodiment, she examined how the human form can move beyond anthropocentric expression. Three core elements are in dialogue: movement, voice, and a live video feed.
