Stúdíó 3
Artists with projects that do not require traditional rehearsal spaces can apply for the Studio 3 project. The artist will then receive facilities in Dansverkstæðið's smallest studio, Studio 3, and a professional dialogue. The projects can be of various types, but an engagement with the dance community is an advantage.
2026
STEINUNN
The first artist in Studio 3 is Dr. Steinunn Knúts Önnudóttir, who is working on the project Brothætt at Dansverkstæði in 2026. Steinunn is a playwright and art researcher who works with existential sustainability, relational approaches and performative encounters. The collaboration between Dansverkstæði and Steinunn spans a full year, during which she will be provided with a working space and professional dialogue.
The work Fragile will be created as a series of rituals. The first is The Healing - a wall mosaic and sound work that culminates with an event at the Dance Workshop on April 8, 2026. The second ritual is called The Repair and will take place in May 2026. Finally, the Forgiveness is in November 2026.
RÓSA
Cruelty and Caution is a research project by Rósa Ómarsdóttir in which she explores the complex interplay between evil and care, where the boundaries between oppression and safety become blurred. In the research, Rósa examines this ambiguity both theoretically and through movement research, where the same act can be both gentle and cruel, safe and fearful. Through academic research, movement research, and conversations with artists and scholars, Rósa examines how these opposing forces intertwine in human relationships, the arts, and culture.
The project builds on an earlier experiment developed in connection with a performance at the Sequences Festival. In Studio 3, she is developing movements and techniques that explore these boundaries, both alone and in collaboration with dancers. The research is ongoing and could evolve into a new dance piece.
